NSW Code of Conduct due to commence on 18 December

The NSW Government’s long-awaited Holiday Rental Code of Conduct is scheduled to come into force on 18 December 2020.

For the past several years, the team at YesBookit and Escapia have been working with the Government Relations team at HomeAway, the NSW Government, and other stakeholders on the final text of the Holiday Rental Code of Conduct.

While we support the direction of the Code of Conduct, we have concerns about the confusion it may cause ahead of what is sure to be the busiest summer season in memory for NSW holiday rentals.

We will continue to work with the Government to address these concerns, and in the meantime this article aims to provide some assistance and quick links to help you make sure you comply with the new laws.

It is important to make sure that you have read and understood what is required of you, so we advise all owners and property managers to familiarise themselves with the Code, particularly their obligations in sections 2.3 and 2.4, respectively.

Here are some links to help guide you as you work through what this means for you, your business and your guests.

We will continue to keep you informed as more clarity on aspects of the new laws becomes available.
